How do performance tiers work
and
What do the advertised speeds actually mean?
Unlike other providers who base pricing on still scene file image resolution, CPU GHzh ratings, or other delightful hardware specifications, rPinin takes the headache out of production budgeting. CBRF offers a work-based pricing model, while still being grounded by industry standard benchmarking platforms such as Blender, CineBench, and OctaneBench,
For each DCC supported, CBRF uses reference benchmarks and throughput measurements (captured in Frames Rendered Per Minute). The throughput measurements for the DCC reference benchmark are then used as the basis for the targeted performance tier groups. This allows you to forget the hardware and focus on performance.
While we leverage benchmarking platforms (e.g. OctanBench, CineBench, and Blender) for our performance baselining, we go a step further to make it mean something for all of our clients, no matter their knowledge of the latest GPU or CPU specifications. We add real-world benchmarking so that you know just how much work that our rigs will do for you. This testing measures the time taken to render frames to file for the benchmarked payloads tested. Measured in frames rendered per minute (frpm), this rendering throughput metric becomes the basis for performance tier speed targets. CBRF fleet specifications are configured and tailored to achieve throughput relative to the reference benchmark system's achieved frpm specification. Generally, slower, throttled speeds equate to cheaper costs, while higher speed, nominally throttled queue configurations deliver a premium experience.
All PTGs are tuned to achieve real-world performance that is equivalent to our reference benchmarks for each DCC. Our Blender reference banchmark achieved a Real-world Render Speed (RRS) score of 6.0168 frpm. The reference benchmark system was first benchmarked and scored against globally recognized platform before real-world testing; results are captured below.

RSS targets are provided below for each PTG to identify performance levels relative to the reference benchmark's RSS score. Real-world Render Speed (RRS) score for the Blender Reference Benchmark represents the median score for the set of benchmarked payloads/files: Classroom (6.30 frpm), Monster (3.68 frpm), The Junk Shop (6.02 frpm).
| CloudBurst PTG Name | RRS Performance Target (Based on Median Blender 5.1.1 reference benchmark results) | Target Use Case |
|---|---|---|
| Economy | 1/2 RRS (3.0 FRPM) | Low-priority. bulk rendering |
| Advantage | 1/2 speed (3.0 FRPM), normal priority | Normal-priority, daily productivity |
| Proformance | RRS parity (6.0 FRPM) | High-priority, increased productivity |
| HyperSpeed | 2x RRS (12.0 FRPM) | Ultrafast processing, unthrottled performance spec |
